In today’s Gospel, St. John tells us of the Risen Lord revealing himself to his disciples at the Sea of Tiberias.
Jesus chose the Apostles as witnesses to His mission and true identity. If anyone among them thought that Jesus had some other way of telling the world about Himself, these thoughts were dismissed when they realized that they were the means; they would be God’s instruments.
As followers of Christ, we too become God’s instruments. We are
challenged to live as Jesus did with an outpouring of love and
compassion for others.
The Annual Catholic Appeal, with its theme, “Blessed are the Merciful for They Shall Obtain Mercy” invites each of us to help bring Christ into the lives of those who seek His presence. It is an opportunity for each of us to unite as a Catholic community and to reach out to serve others – the hungry, the homeless, the unemployed, the distressed, the
unchurched, our children, and the elderly.
This weekend you are invited to participate in the 2016 Annual
Catholic Appeal. Please respond by pledging a sacrificial gift to this
year’s campaign.
